So when I decline to go on group rides, really, it's not that I'm antisocial. Well, okay, I am a little bit. A lot? Mostly, it's because I crave being able to stop on a dime whenever I see something that strikes me as beautiful, unusual, or just plain quirky, to take a closer look and/or a photo.

How did you spot some of that stuff while riding by? I don't ride with my glasses, so I usually miss the small stuff.
Well, it's kind of a one thing leads to another deal.
I stop because I see one thing, then look a little closer and see another, and another and . . .
Like that.

I hate carrying too many gadgets with me---but when I run, I take my camera with me and do the same thing! I enjoy solo rides more as well just because it's a "mental clearing" - if I need to stop, I can...if I need to dig hard and pound the pedals, I do. No, you aren't anti social - you just like to socialize when the time is right, you can kick back with a cold brew and laugh a bit! Biking, running, swimming - those are serious times ;)
Chris -- you need to wear your glasses. I mean -- ask your insurance company what happens if you hit a pedestrian.
I stopped carrying my camera ... and I just use my phone.
EC: what is the sheriff's sign for ... do people drive out into the water? or onto the ice?

As for the sign, it's by the boat landing, so maybe people do try to keep driving out onto the ice.
I'm so happy with the camera on my new phone (G1). Heads and shoulders above the RAZR's. If only it had flash, I'd be 100% pleased as punch!
