The hubby called a bit ago, exclaiming that there had been "a catastrophe." The story finally emerged that Hobbs had come in from the backyard, bleeding like mad all over the house. Apparently, he lost one of his ailing nails (long story) while doing his usual figure 8s at full speed out back.
So, I instructed my frantic hubby on what to gather for a bandage, and while he was on the phone, told him how to apply it all.
He sent me pics of his handiwork, and I say - what a fabulous job he did!!! You can't be married to a CVT for as long as he has and not have some of the skills rub off, eh?Well done, hubby!

Nice work and you get a new pattern on your carpet as a bonus. I had an Airedale that had a habit of catching her nails on things and ripping them out producing the same thing you had with Hobbs. My current Border Collie is blissfully free of issues other than an energy level not easily satisfied in our urban setting.
Thank you, thank you.
Glad your pup is doing well! I don't envy you Border Collie people - it must be a full-time job keeping those pups' brains occupied and outta trouble.
Hobbsy has a weird condition called symmetric lupoid onychodystrophy, so his nails are prone to problems. This time, however, he had been rough-housing with his brother in the snow out back, so . . . hard to know exactly what happened.
Oh, and the carpet had since be de-patterned. It was an interesting effect, but . . . nah.
very impressed with the bandaging! If Hannah ever needs a bandage, I'm giving you a call too! :)
